On Tuesday 11th May the 2nd year boys' basketball team will travel to University of Limerick Arena for the All Ireland School Basketball Final versus Castleisland, Co. Kerry. They will be supported by 150 sports fans from the school as well as parents and friends.
The team has been successful in defeating experienced basketball teams from all over the country to claim their place in the final. It is a great achievement for the school, being the first team to reach an All Ireland Final.
The team travelled to UL on the 24th April to defeat St. Mary's College, Galway in the All-Ireland Semi-Final 45-14. The win was a team effort where a strong zone defence stopped the opposition from making any attempt at a lead.
The team became Cork County Champions 2010 beating Presentation College 39-20 points in the County Final. They went to the All Ireland playoffs to represent their county, where they had a monumental win on 14th April in the University of Limerick Arena, as they beat 3 county champions to successfully progress to the All-Ireland Semi-Finals. Kinsale beat Colaiste Iosagain, Porarlington 37-16, Pobalscoil Inbhear Sceine 28-17, and finally overcame Waterford DLS 42-19 points.
The team has a panel 24 players strong, a testament to the interest in the sport in Kinsale.
