Principal Sr. Mary Donovan, on behalf of the school community, wishes to extend a most sincere thanks to the many schools, universities, institutes, groups and individuals who sent messages of congratulations on the school's recent success in the BT Young Scientist Competition. It means a lot to the individual students and to the school community that so many people went to the time and effort to contact and congratulate us on our students' wonderful achievements. Thank you.
There were great celebrations and jubilation in our school today as our triumphant Young Scientists returned to a rapturous welcome from both students and staff. The entire school assembled to acknowledge the outstanding achievements of our students as did the Mayor of Kinsale, Cllr. Dermot Collins.
Kinsale Community School has the unique distinction of being the only school in the country to have among its current students the winners of two of the last four Young Scientist Competitions.

For the second time Kinsale Community School has captured the title of BT Young Scientist of the Year. Second Year students John D. O' Callaghan and Liam McCarthy, with their project entitled 'The Development of a convenient test method for Somatic Cell Count and its importance in Milk Production, are the 2009 overall winners. This years exhibition was an outstanding success for the school, with students bringing home several awards.
