...Both primary and secondary students in Kinsale were privileged to have Richard Moore address them when he spoke of his story recently in Kinsale Community School.
Richard was invited to Kinsale by the Kinsale Peace Project. As a ten year old child Richard was stuck in the face by a rubber bullet during the troubles in Derry and as a result lost his eyesight. Rather than making him bitter this experience led Richard to ‘see life in a different way.' He is a humanitarian who works through his charity Children in Crossfire to eradicate childhood poverty. On Monday 15th March in Drimoleague, the U19A girls football team successfully defended their County title which they won for the first time last year. After 60 mins of football, Beara Community School and KCS were tied on a scoreline of 4-8 to 2-14, respectively. Twenty minutes of extra time were needed to produce an eventual winner and it was the girls of KCS who emerged with a six point victory. The winning margin at the end does not reflect the closesness of the entire match which was energy zapping to say the least. However in true Kinsale style it was the never say die attitude...
