International Women’s Day Event: Gratitude in Action, Empowerment in Motion

Our school is thrilled to celebrate International Women’s Day with a special event for our TY and 5th-year girls on Friday, 7th March at the Shane Fitzsimons Riverside Theatre. This year’s theme, “Gratitude in Action, Empowerment in Motion,” highlights the strength and resilience of women in all areas of life. 

The event will be led by students from the LGFA Serious Support Programme, who have been actively promoting leadership and empowerment among young women. In the spirit of giving back, all proceeds from the event will go towards Edel House, a vital service that supports women and families in need. We are delighted to welcome Claire Harrington from Edel House, who will speak to the students about the essential work they do in the community. 

Adding to the celebration, we will have performances from the incredible African Queens, while the KCS Queens will also make a special appearance. It promises to be a vibrant and inspiring showcase of talent and culture. 

To further highlight the importance of women in sports, our very own teacher, Laura O’Mahony, will be sharing her insights on Females in Sport, shedding light on the challenges and triumphs of women in athletics. 

This event is more than just a celebration—it’s an opportunity to reflect on the power of women, support those in need, and inspire one another to continue pushing boundaries. We look forward to a day filled with inspiration, empowerment, and community spirit!
