Junior Ladies Football Final

The Junior ladies football team played in the Munster plate final in Ballyvourney on Tues 15th Mayagainst Mercy Mounthawk (Tralee). Unfortunately for us, two of our Cork players were carrying injuries and had to watch from the sideline. The relatively young side found the going a little tough in the first half and fell behind by four points early on but through hard work and some excellent defending finished the half strongly and only trailed 0-9 to 0-2 at half time. A blistering start to the second half, aided by a light breeze, saw KCS score three unanswered points to close the gap. In a pulsating contest, both teams gave it everything and mid-way through the second half there was only two points between them, 0-11 to 0-9. Then came a goal from Mounthawk to further stretch their lead.Despite trying their hardest and with time running out, the girls couldn’t raise a green flag. Both teams exchanged points and with the final kick of the game, Mounthawk found the net once more to ensure they were victorious. Final score KCS 0-10 Mounthawk 2-12. Well done to all involved. The senior team play Colaiste an Phiarsaigh, Glanmire in the County final next week.
