African Drumming Workshop

Transition Year and Leaving Certificate Applied students at Kinsale Community School took part in an energetic and inspiring African Drumming Workshop with renowned percussionist Pat Naughton. Pat, an accomplished drummer with extensive expertise in African rhythms and musical traditions, introduced students to a range of drumming techniques, rhythmic patterns, and cultural influences.

Throughout the workshop, students explored the rich heritage of African drumming, gaining insight into its historical significance, community role, and expressive power. With each beat, the room filled with rhythm, excitement, and shared enthusiasm, creating a vibrant atmosphere of collaboration and creativity.

The hands-on experience allowed students to fully immerse themselves in the music, discovering how rhythm can connect people, build unity, and spark joy. Laughter, focus, and a strong sense of teamwork echoed throughout the session.

The workshops proved to be a memorable and uplifting experience for all who took part. Students left feeling inspired and energised, eager to further explore percussion and the global language of music.

Thank you to Pat Naughton for sharing his passion, talent, and cultural knowledge with our school community. We look forward to more enriching musical experiences in the future.
