Kinsale Community School Hosts Successful Open Night

Kinsale Community School was delighted to welcome prospective students and their families to our Open Night on Tuesday, 23 September. The event offered a wonderful opportunity for visitors to experience the energy and spirit of our school community.

On arrival, guests were warmly welcomed by Head Boy Conor Looney and Head Girl Eimear Ní Chearnaigh, while Ms. Kearney and members of the school’s traditional music group set the tone with a lively performance.

Transition Year students led guided tours of the campus, introducing families to staff and showcasing the wide variety of subjects and facilities available. Visitors explored a variety of areas some of which included Computer Science, Music, Art, Home Economics, Construction, Science laboratories, and Technical Graphics, as well as specialist spaces including the Microsoft Room, Radio Station, Coffee Truck, Weather Station, and Greenhouse. The breadth of opportunities on display reflected the school’s commitment to academic excellence, creativity, and innovation.

The tours offered parents and students a first-hand look at our state-of-the-art classrooms, vibrant extracurricular opportunities, and the strong sense of community that underpins school life. Visitors also met with members of the Student Council, who shared their experiences of leadership and student voice at Kinsale Community School.

The evening concluded with the Principal’s Address, during which families heard about the school’s ethos, academic programmes, extra-curricular activities, and our commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Contributions from Head Boy Conor Looney, Head Girl Eimear Ní Chearnaigh, and first year students Tom Rice, Ella Holly and Lauren Bouse added a personal perspective, as they shared their own positive experiences of life at Kinsale Community School.

The Open Night was a memorable evening, one that reflected the warmth, diversity, and ambition of the Kinsale Community School family. A special thank you is extended to Ms. Carol O’Loughlin for her outstanding work in co-ordinating the event, ensuring its success.

We look forward to welcoming our new students in the year ahead.
