KCS Féilte Scoile 2026: Supporting Inclusive Practice

Kinsale Community School hosted its annual Féilte Scoile on Wednesday, 7th October 2026, bringing staff together to celebrate professional learning, collaboration and the sharing of best practice. This year's event focused on the theme "Supporting Inclusive Practice: SEN Strategies in Action", highlighting practical approaches to ensuring that every learner can thrive in our classrooms.

Féilte Scoile continues to provide an invaluable opportunity for teachers to learn from one another, exchange ideas, and explore strategies that enhance teaching and learning across the school. Through a series of engaging workshops led by members of staff, participants explored a range of approaches designed to support students with diverse learning needs and create more inclusive learning environments.

The workshop programme featured:

  • Knowing Your Learners: Using the MIS System (Compass) Effectively – presented by Ms. M McNamara and Ms. M Brosnan

  • Every Voice Heard: The Impact of Sound Field Systems – presented by Ms. E Bennett

  • Creating Classrooms Where Neurodivergent Learners Thrive – presented by Mr. A Bowen and Ms. R Roccaforte

  • Making Learning Accessible: Dyslexia-Friendly Teaching – presented by Mr. R Sheehan and Ms. G Bermingham

  • Challenge and Stretch: Using Action Verbs to Differentiate for Gifted and Talented Learners – presented by Ms. L Murphy and Ms. L O'Mahony

  • Planning for All: UDL and Differentiation in Practice – presented by Ms. A Kelleher and Ms. J O'Connor

Each session provided staff with practical, classroom-focused strategies that can be implemented immediately to support student learning and wellbeing. The workshops reflected Kinsale Community School's commitment to inclusive education and to ensuring that all students are given the opportunity to reach their full potential.

A sincere thank you to all presenters for generously sharing their expertise, experience and innovative practices with colleagues. Special thanks also to Mr. G O'Callaghan for coordinating and organising this year's Féilte Scoile.Events such as Féilte Scoile demonstrate the strength of the professional learning culture within Kinsale Community School. By sharing knowledge, collaborating with one another and continually reflecting on our practice, we continue to enhance the educational experience of every student in our school community.
