As you may know it is a compulsory part of your child’s Gaisce award to complete an adventure trip. The purpose of the trip is to inspire them to develop a spirit of adventure and discovery, and it involves one night’s stay and a walk and /or physical effort of 25km.
It is proposed that this adventure journey will take place at Garrettstown House in conjunction with Kinsale Outdoor Education Centre. The cost of the adventure will be €65 per pupil. This covers our stay in tents, guided walks around the coastline, guided tour of The Old Head Lighthouse, water sport activities like kayaking & surfing and breakfast and dinner. The OEC are fully insured and will provide an instructor to supervise overnight.
Students must make their own arrangements to get to and from Garrettstown. We expect all students to arrive in Garrettstown by 9.30am on Thursday 9th of May. We will begin our first activity at 10.00am SHARP!
All pupils will need to be collected at 2.00pm the following day (Friday 10th May).
The Kinsale Outdoor Education Centre are supplying the group with tents but students will need to bring their own sleeping bags and ground mats. Girls and boys are not permitted to share. Students will also need a packed lunch for the Thursday and plenty of dry, warm clothes.
