Social Media has changed how we engage with information. Anthony Angelini (Lecturer with the Adult Continuing Education (ACE), UCC will look at the attention-based infrastructure of social media and how this need for engagement encourages the spreading of extreme, hyper-partisan content.

It will also highlight a number of useful methods that can be employed to better protect family and friends from disinformation: e.g. Developing Critical Thinking Skills, Fact-Checking, Analyzing content for manipulation (deepfake, AI generated), Identifying bot accounts.
