Itinerary For German Exchange Visit to Kinsale Oct 19th - 26th
The German Exchange Students will arrive at KCS on Friday Oct 19th. Here are the school plans for the week. Evenings and weekend at own discretion.
Fri 19 Pick up students from school approx. 4.30pm and transfer to homes
Sat/Sun With families. We would suggest that you bring your student to visit something touristy but avoid those on the itinerary below. Routine daily stuff like shopping, gardening, GAA matches, restaurant etc. are all perfectly acceptable. But it’s entirely up to you. The students may also like to get together as ours do when they visit Germany.
Mon 22 9am Bus to Cork City for Germans and Irish.
Guided visit of Old City Gaol. Visit to UCC Campus, meet Mr Sean O Broin former principal for brief history of UCC. Walk along river through Old Cork. Free time in Cork City from 12.30 to 2.30. Return to Kinsale for 3.30pm.
12 euros cost for Irish for bus and Gaol visit. No cost for Germans.
Tues 23 9am. Bus departs for Fota Wild Life Park.
Noon. Ballincollig for Lunch at own expense.
1.30pm Film in Ballincollig Cinema.
4.30/5 Return to Kinsale. Irish to make arrangements for transport home.
Cost of day trip 20 euros for Irish. No cost for Germans.
Weds 24 8.45 to 10am German students in class
10.00am Welcome Reception with refreshments hosted by German Dept
The Mayor of the Kinsale Municipal District and Principal Fergal McCarthy will officially welcome the group.
11 to 1 School Activity(Movie/Class/GAA)
Thurs 25 8.45 to 9.30 Germans in class with German teachers
9.30 Bus to Charles Fort for guided tour. Bus will then take students on a trip to the Old Head of Kinsale, Garretstown Beach with free time for a coffee in Ballinspittle Village. Only German students will participate. Free time in Kinsale for lunch. Meet back at school 1.40pm.
2.30 Musical entertainment. German and Irish participation welcome!!
Friday 26 German students dept from school 10am
