2A1 CSPE Students Participate in the “GLOBE Ireland Air Quality Campaign”
The 2A1 CSPE students are taking part in the GLOBE Ireland Air Quality Campaign under the guidance of their teacher, Ms. M. O’Sullivan.
The campaign aims to assess traffic-related air pollution in and around schools. It is an educational project designed to raise awareness about air quality and encourage action for cleaner air.
As part of the study, students installed three monitoring tubes around the school in different locations: one near the main road, one near the car park, and one in a sheltered, quieter area. The tubes will remain in place for four weeks, measuring levels of nitrogen dioxide. Once collected, the samples will be sent to the GLOBE Programme for analysis, allowing students to compare their results with data from other schools across Ireland.
This project links directly to CSPE themes such as active citizenship and sustainability. We look forward to discovering what the results reveal!
