European Education and Skills Summit in Brussels

Principal, Mr. Fergal McCarthy, today addressed the European Education and Skills Summit in Brussels, following an invitation from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture. 

The Summit, held at the Square Conference Centre, is the European Union’s flagship annual gathering on education and skills policy. It brings together Ministers, senior policymakers, and key stakeholders from across Europe to discuss the most significant challenges and opportunities facing education systems. 

Mr. McCarthy participated as a speaker on the high-level panel: 
“From shortages to strength: how to reimagine the teaching profession in Europe?” 

During this session, he contributed insights into innovative solutions for teacher recruitment and retention, the evolving role of educators, and the importance of strengthening the teaching profession to support Europe’s long-term competitiveness and resilience. 

Speaking after the event, Mr. McCarthy said: 

“It was a privilege to represent Kinsale Community School and Ireland at today’s Summit. The challenges we face in education are shared across Europe, and the discussions today highlighted the importance of collaboration, innovation and courage in shaping the future of our profession.” 

Mr. McCarthy’s contribution reflects both his leadership and Kinsale Community School’s ongoing commitment to excellence, continuous improvement, and international engagement.
