TY students complete Deloitte Financial Maths Programme

24 Transition Year students from Ms A. O Mahony’s Maths class proudly received their certificates this week after successfully completing an engaging Financial Maths course in partnership with Deloitte. The programme introduced students to real-world financial concepts including budgeting, investing, risk, data analysis, and problem-solving, helping them to see how maths applies beyond the classroom.

Throughout the course, students worked on interactive activities, and team challenges. This allowed them to build confidence in their numeracy skills while developing critical thinking and learning to collaborate. Many students commented that the experience gave them a new appreciation for financial literacy and opened their eyes to potential future careers in business, finance, and accounting.

This initiative also strongly supports the Career Exploration Dimension of the new TY Programme, as students engaged in guided and meaningful learning experiences that helped them explore diverse future pathways. Through direct interaction with industry professionals and real workplace contexts, students became more informed about the link between education and career opportunities, developed key workplace skills, and gained greater awareness of their own interests, strengths, and future ambitions.

The school extends sincere thanks to Deloitte facilitators Ms Lauryn O’ Shea, Ms Caoimhe Ruddy and Mr Adam O’ Sullivan for their guidance, enthusiasm, and support. Congratulations to all participating students on this fantastic achievement, their hard work and curiosity truly paid off!. Thank you to Ms L. O Mahony for organising this course.
