TY Students Celebrate Success at First Cut Youth Film Festival
Congratulations to our Transition Year students who achieved fantastic success at this year’s First Cut Youth Film Festival, which took place from 2nd - 7th March.
The First Cut Youth Film Festival is Ireland’s leading youth film festival, celebrating creativity, storytelling and filmmaking by young people. Our TY students were delighted to have their work recognised and to win an award at the festival, a wonderful achievement that highlights their creativity, teamwork and dedication.
As part of the project, students worked together to create their own short films, taking responsibility for every stage of the filmmaking process. This included developing storylines, writing scripts, acting, filming and editing the final productions. Through this process, students gained valuable experience in storytelling, media production and collaboration while bringing their creative ideas to life on screen.
Three films were showcased at the festival: ‘Trouble’, ‘Look Over There’, and ‘Glitch’. The award-winning film, ‘Glitch’, was created by Phoenix Boniwell, Grace O’Rourke, Aisling Lynch, Aoife Ferguson, Eoin Condon, Maya O’Reilly, Olivia White, Riley Jones, Enid O’Sullivan, Dylan Sadler, Liam Riordan, Kayla O’Toole, Heather Crowley, Lia D’Arcy, Riley Gopfert and Nora Lynch.
Having their work showcased and celebrated at a national youth film festival was a fantastic experience for the students and a proud moment for our school community.
Congratulations to all the TY students involved for their hard work and creativity, and well done on representing the school so successfully.
