SciFest 2025 – KCS Students Present at MTU Cork

On Friday 2nd May, seven projects from KCS were showcased at SciFest 2025, which took place on the MTU Cork campus. The event gave second-level students the opportunity to present their research in science, technology, engineering and maths to a panel of judges and visitors.

Archie O'Callaghan, Sadhbh Coakley, Ruairi O'Daltuin, Ellie Sheedy, Ida McGowan, Charlotte Galvin, Casey Ann Schroeder and Gráinne Crowley all presented their projects and represented the school with enthusiasm and focus. They communicated their ideas clearly and engaged well during discussions with the judges.

A special congratulations goes to Gráinne Crowley, who was awarded the Mallinckrodt STEM Excellence Award for her project, "Food is Fuel: A statistical analysis into the impact of hunger on performance, behaviour and productivity in school." Her work was recognised for its strong research, clear presentation and relevance to student wellbeing. This is a significant achievement and reflects Gráinne’s dedication, insight and effort throughout the project.

Well done to all students who took part and contributed to a strong showing for KCS at this year’s event.
